Environmental Justice
I believe that where you live should not determine if you live. We are at a time where we need to make immediate and precise actions to improve our climate and failing to do so not only puts our planet at risk but our own health and the health of our children, grandchildren and other future generations.
As Pennsylvanian’s we know that every person deserves the right to clean air and clean water, so much so that we enshrined it in Section 127 of our constitution. Yet, that is so far from the reality which many people in southwestern PA experience on a daily basis. We have some of the worst air quality in the country and that is showing up in our lives with high rates of asthma and cancer and this is seen more heavily in Black and brown communities and those of lower socioeconomic status.
I believe a just transition to cleaner, sustainable energy is not just necessary but the time is now and PA has a unique position as a leader in energy generation for the nation to take the lead on this transition. We need to prioritize people over profit because at the end of the day we all want to be healthy, have healthy communities–breathe clean air and drink clean water.
I am a recognized expert in the environmental public health field and have spent years working with communities in Southwestern PA responding to a variety of issues from landfills to the Beaver Cracker Plant to the East Palestine train derailment. I will fight for all people and our planet by:
